This is Kyoto iUP's published sticker rate for the 4-year undergraduate course (JPY 282,000 one-time admission fee is separate, shown in the same quote) — Japan's standard national-university tuition band, identical to the rate the University of Tokyo's GSC transfer programme publishes. It is NOT what most Kyoto iUP students actually pay: the university states 'Scholarships that include full admission fee waivers and full or partial tuition fee waivers for four-and-a-half years are available for all Kyoto iUP students,' with the admission fee waived in full for every student and the tuition waiver full-or-partial depending on merit, so most admits pay less than this figure. A monthly allowance of up to JPY 120,000 is also paid to every student during the 6-month preparatory course. Kyoto University does not publish any other scholarship for international undergraduates outside Kyoto iUP.

- English and Japanese. no Japanese proficiency is required to enrol, but the programme is deliberately structured to build it: the first two-and-a-half years mix English- and Japanese-medium instruction, and by the final two years students are expected to have enough Japanese to attend specialised lectures and pursue advanced studies in their major in Japanese, alongside regular Japanese-track students.

- TOEFL iBT, 90 overallKyoto iUP states there is no strict minimum score for English proficiency — TOEFL iBT 90 (or 4.5 on the post-2026 1-6 scale) and IELTS 6.5 are given as the 'typical scores of successful candidates', not a hard cutoff. Either a TOEFL/IELTS score or Form C (an alternative English-proficiency evaluation form) is required.

Admissions tests
- SAT requiredSubmission of official score/grade reports for one or more standardized tests is mandatory for all applicants; the eligible test depends on the applicant's own secondary-education background.
