|---|---|---|---|
| UniSCSunshine Coast | A$85 to A$300 | Typical off-campus private share accommodation for international students near UniSC campuses, as published in UniSC's own international living-costs guide. UniSC does not itself own or administer student accommodation — it is privately arranged between students and providers — so no on-campus halls rate exists to cite instead. What is includedUniSC's own guidance is that an international student would normally need approximately A$450–500 per week in total to live comfortably on the Sunshine Coast, covering accommodation, food, transport and other daily costs; the private-share range recorded here is the accommodation component of that guide, and the same page also lists homestay accommodation (which may include some meals) at A$235–325+ per week. | unisc.edu.auread 17 Aug 2026 |
| MurdochPerth | A$90 to A$440 | Murdoch’s own published weekly budgeting guidance for accommodation in Perth, spanning hostels and guesthouses at the low end through to an off-campus rental at the top. Murdoch words the top figure as over $440 per week, so treat it as a floor for a private rental rather than a cap. These are example figures Murdoch cites from Study Australia, not Murdoch University Village hall rates, which Murdoch does not publish on its own site. What is includedThe same page lists the other weekly Perth living costs Murdoch tells students to budget for: public transport $30-60, food and groceries $140-280, phone and internet $15-30, gas and electricity $10-20, and entertainment $80-150. Murdoch University Village sits on the main Perth campus and houses around 800 students in self-catered apartments, with room rates that include utilities such as power and gas. Renting off campus adds start-up costs including a bond of 4 weeks rent, and utilities may not be included. | murdoch.edu.auread 19 Aug 2026 |
| Notre Dame AustraliaFremantle | A$150 to A$400 | University of Notre Dame Australia's own estimated weekly living-cost table (Fees, Costs and Scholarships > Living Costs page) -- shared off-campus rent range across its Western Australia (Fremantle/Broome) and New South Wales (Sydney) campuses. Not an on-campus residence rate: Notre Dame's own Port Lodge (Fremantle) residence was full for Semester 1 2026 at the time this was checked, so this is the university's own guidance for the private-rental market its students actually use. | notredame.edu.auread 6 Sept 2026 |
| AvondaleCooranbong, NSW | A$154 to A$217 | Residential Hall weekly rental rate per person, Lake Macquarie campus, 20262 room types
Rent only — meal credit packages are charged separately by the same page and are excluded. The asterisk on both rates means GST is added for non-Avondale students. The same page separately quotes 280 AUD per week for a university unit as of January 2026. | avondale.edu.auread 14 Sept 2026 |
| CDUDarwin | A$168 to A$250 | Typical share accommodation in Darwin, as published on CDU’s own Study in Darwin page for international students. Not an on-campus hall rate. What is includedCDU notes the price varies by suburb. The same page also sets out other Darwin living costs, including $1 concession bus tickets for three hours of travel or a weekly ticket at $7, and textbooks at $200 to $500 per semester. | cdu.edu.auread 19 Aug 2026 |
| UniSQToowoomba | A$171 to A$253 | On-campus self-catered residential college rooms, 2027 weekly rent | unisq.edu.auread 16 Aug 2026 |
| UNEArmidale | A$180 | UNE's cheapest on-campus residential college room on the Armidale campus — the university publishes a single 'starting from' weekly rate publicly; per-college, per-room rates sit behind its StarRez accommodation portalWhat is includedThe starting rate includes NBN internet, a fully furnished room and heating. UNE's colleges offer a mix of catered and self-catered packages: Wright College and Village are now fully self-catered, and Mary White College offers both catered and self-catered rooms. Mary White's own page quotes rooms starting at $229 a week with Sport UNE gym membership, Wi-Fi and all utilities included, plus an optional meal package of $75 a week covering five dinners (Sunday to Thursday) in the Dining Hall. | une.edu.auread 18 Aug 2026 |
| GriffithBrisbane (Nathan) | A$192 to A$197 | Griffith University, Barakula College (Brisbane South/Nathan campus) on-campus accommodation, starting weekly rate by flat size2 room types
"From" prices. Other Griffith on-campus colleges (Bellenden Ker, Carnarvon) start around $202/week; electricity, water, gas, wifi and laundry access included. | griffith.edu.auread 4 Sept 2026 |
| CSUBathurst | A$194 to A$228 | Cottages, Bathurst campus — self-catered single room in an eight-bedroom cottage, 2027 prices, by residency package. The cheaper 52-week package is available only to returning students, so a new student's options start at the 37-week sessions 1 & 2 package. Charles Sturt also sets a separate first-year accommodation guarantee deadline for international students — 31 December 2026 for 2027, against 31 October 2026 for domestic students — and accepts later applications without a room guarantee.2 room types
Charles Sturt prices each room type on its own page and quotes both a weekly rate and the whole-package total: for 2027 the sessions 1 & 2 package is $8,208 over 36 weeks for a continuing student and $8,436 over 37 weeks for a new student, and the 52-week returning-student package is $10,088. The same room is $218 per week for 2026. A compulsory, non-refundable acceptance fee is charged on top — $200 for new full-time residents, $50 for returning ones. The room is self-catered: each cottage has eight bedrooms sharing a common room, kitchen facilities and two bathrooms, and the bedroom has a single bed, bar fridge and cupboards; wifi, heating or fans, shared laundry, parking and on-call security are listed as amenities. Charles Sturt's Bathurst accommodation index separately lists its other Bathurst residences from $218 per week (Traditional Diggings, single bed, shared bathroom; John Oxley Village, double bed, shared bathroom) to $310 per week (Centre for Professional Development, double bed with private ensuite), but that index page does not state which year those 'from' prices apply to, so they are not recorded as the range here. | csu.edu.auread 18 Aug 2026 |
| SCULismore | A$200 to A$300 | typical off-campus shared-room rent near SCU's campuses (Lismore, Coffs Harbour, Gold Coast)What is includedSCU's own FAQ: 'Often this will include furnishings and bills.' Accommodation options such as studios, granny flats, and entire units generally cost more. On-campus UniLodge halls exist at Lismore and Coffs Harbour (no on-campus accommodation at Gold Coast), but no fixed room-rate table is published on this page — only a waitlist/enquiry contact. | scu.edu.auread 18 Aug 2026 |
| TorrensSydney (Surry Hills) | A$200 to A$500 | Typical rent for a room in a sharehouse, depending on the city, suburb and property (Torrens has campuses in several Australian cities); Torrens runs no residence of its own, and the figure comes from Study Australia data current as of December 2023. | torrens.edu.auread 27 Sept 2026 |
| UCCanberra (Bruce) | A$210.50 to A$464.50 | University of Canberra, Campus West residence, 2026 weekly room rates including utilities, from a 12-bedroom shared apartment (per person) to a 1-bedroom apartmentWhat is includedOther UC residences (Weeden Lodge, Cooper Lodge, UC Lodge) are priced separately, up to about $412/week. | canberra.edu.auread 4 Sept 2026 |
| CurtinPerth (Bentley) | A$225 to A$240 | Curtin University, Kalgoorlie campus, Agricola student accommodation — private room weekly rate by apartment size2 room types
This is the Kalgoorlie campus rate; Perth (Bentley) campus on-campus accommodation is priced separately, generally from about $250/week. | curtin.edu.auread 4 Sept 2026 |
| UTASHobart | A$229 to A$588 | University of Tasmania Hobart accommodation — the six residential colleges and apartment blocks the university lists for Hobart, weekly cost for 2027 as published on its own "quick glance" comparison tableWhat is includedThe page's own footnote states costs are per week for 2027 and are subject to change and NRAS eligibility. Read across the table's columns, the residences are: University Apartments (Sandy Bay, six-bedroom flats) $327; Christ College (Sandy Bay, single rooms with shared facilities or six-bedroom flats) $229-$399; John Fisher College (Sandy Bay) $316-$399; Jane College (South Hobart) $588; Hobart Apartments (Hobart CBD, studios) $314-$495; Hytten Hall (Hobart CBD, studios and shared apartments) $330-$396. Jane College is the only fully catered option — it is the one residence whose weekly cost includes catering, it is described as affiliated with the University rather than run by it, and applications go directly to the college. The weekly cost includes all essential utilities (electricity, heating, water and maintenance) and free Wi-Fi in the room and most other areas; laundry facilities, communal or shared kitchens, common rooms and free secure bike storage are provided, and a free UniHopper shuttle runs between the Hobart accommodation and the campuses. Launceston and Burnie accommodation is priced on separate pages and is not covered by this range. | utas.edu.auread 18 Aug 2026 |
| La TrobeMelbourne (Bundoora) | A$245 to A$400 | On-campus residences at La Trobe’s Melbourne (Bundoora) campus, weekly rates for 2027 contracts; a 41- or 52-week contract costs a little less per week than a 20-week semester. Catering is optional and extra.6 room types
Optional catering (daily breakfast and dinner) costs $185 a week. A $1,000 refundable bond and a $130 non-refundable departure cleaning fee also apply. | latrobe.edu.auread 27 Sept 2026 |
| NewcastleNewcastle, New South Wales | A$249.45 to A$477.76 | University of Newcastle, Australia — on-campus accommodation, 2026 weekly fee range across room typesWhat is includedFees include wifi, general cleaning, utilities (electricity and water), 24/7 security and support services. Market rate for similar off-campus housing is estimated at up to $540/week. | newcastle.edu.auread 4 Sept 2026 |
| FedUniBallarat | A$252 to A$329 | Fedliving on-campus student residences at the Ballarat campuses (Mt Helen and Camp St), 2027 weekly rate including GST, all bills included5 room types
All bills — utilities and internet — are included in the weekly rate, which is quoted inclusive of GST. Charged on top: a non-refundable $30 application fee, a $550 acceptance fee, an optional $100 linen and crockery pack, and a parking permit ($150 at Mt Helen, $175 at Camp St). Contract options for 2027 are the full academic year (21 February to 12 November), Semester 1 or Semester 2 only, or summer accommodation (12 November 2026 to 21 February 2027). Federation prices its other campuses separately on the same page: Berwick halls $266 standard, $287 ensuite, $329 partnered; Gippsland $217-$252 by residence and room type. | federation.edu.auread 17 Aug 2026 |
| ECUPerth | A$263 to A$447 | ECU Village Joondalup, the on-campus student village at Edith Cowan University's largest campus. ECU lets no halls itself: its own accommodation page names Campus Living Villages as the operator and sends readers there for prices, which is why this is cited to the operator's domain rather than ecu.edu.au. Per-person weekly rents, from a shared apartment room to a studio apartment. The page also prints a $507.00 studio rate labelled 'total for two students' - a couple's rate, not what one student pays, so it is deliberately not the maximum here. ECU runs two further villages, at Mount Lawley and Bunbury, whose rates differ and are published on their own pages. | campuslivingvillages.comread 17 Sept 2026 |
| QUTBrisbane | A$265 to A$500 | A room in a student residential complex in Brisbane, which usually comes with a bed, study desk and some storage, with shared bathrooms, kitchens and common rooms. | qut.edu.auread 27 Sept 2026 |
| CQUniversityRockhampton | A$270 to A$465 | Capricornia College, CQUniversity's Rockhampton North campus residence, long-term residency agreement (full year or term, minimum 12 weeks), weekly rate by building and room type, effective 1 January 20267 room types
All prices include accommodation and meals except Swanson, which is self-catered - so the 270 and 325 figures are room-only and the rest cover 21 meals a week. On top of the weekly rate, the same page charges an application fee of $100 for new students or $50 for returning ones and a facility levy of $375 per term capped at $750 a calendar year, plus a $1,000 confirmation deposit on acceptance; linen is bring-your-own or $25 a week to hire. All long-term residents get free internet, laundry and gym access. CQU also runs residences at its Mackay Ooralea campus at separate rates. | delivery-cqucontenthub.stylelabs.cloudread 19 Sept 2026 |
| FlindersAdelaide | A$307 to A$497 | Flinders Living on-campus accommodation, Full Year (40-week) contract weekly fee — Deirdre Jordan Village to University Hall, Schedule of Fees 2027What is includedUniversity Hall is catered (weekly food cost billed separately); Deirdre Jordan Village is self-contained units. Advance/community fees apply on top of the weekly fee. | flinders.edu.auread 4 Sept 2026 |
| ANUCanberra | A$308 to A$415 | Per-person weekly rates for ANU's self-catered residences, from the university's own 'Our Residences' listing for 2026 — A$308/wk at Burton & Garran Hall (the cheapest residence on campus) up to A$415/wk at Ursula Hall Laurus Wing4 room types
ANU lists 18 residences in total and publishes each as a "Rates from" weekly figure, so these are entry-level rates per person, not the price of every room. This range covers ANU's self-catered residences only, which is the cheaper of the two options and the range quoted above. Catered residences and the affiliated colleges cost substantially more: A$484/wk at Ursula Hall Main Wing, A$529/wk at Wright Hall, A$562/wk at Bruce Hall Main Wing, A$582/wk at Burgmann College and A$590/wk at John XXIII College, the dearest on campus — those rates include meals. A student budgeting for a catered hall should plan for roughly A$484–A$590/wk rather than the self-catered figures shown here. ANU also publishes a Residential Fee Summary PDF breaking each residence down by room type, where individual rooms range more widely than these headline "from" rates. | study.anu.edu.auread 23 Aug 2026 |

| VUMelbourne | A$350 | homestay with a local host — the starting rate VU publishes on its own housing page, not a range and not an on-campus figure. VU does not publish rates for its UniLodge Victoria University student accommodation, referring students to UniLodge's own site insteadWhat is includedThis is a floor, not a typical cost: VU says homestay rates vary and the rate depends on whether the host offers a single or shared bedroom, the meal plan option and the student's age. A homestay includes a clean furnished room (bed, wardrobe, desk and chair), access to bathroom and laundry facilities, meal services and utilities (electricity, gas, water and internet); no bond and no rental agreement are required, and the minimum stay is four weeks. On top of the weekly rate there is a $350 placement fee and a $190 airport pick-up fee if required. VU's own student accommodation is UniLodge Victoria University, fully furnished single or shared apartments opposite the Footscray Park campus with unlimited internet, utilities and residential-life programming included in the weekly rent — but VU publishes no price for it, saying only "See the UniLodge website for the full product range and pricing", and UniLodge's site is not a Victoria University domain, so no on-campus rate is recorded here. | vu.edu.auread 18 Aug 2026 |

| UNSWSydney | A$408.50 to A$646 | UNSW Village, the self-catered apartment accommodation listed under UNSW's own 'living on campus' options — 2026 weekly residential fee, per person in a shared apartment and per apartment for studios and one-bedroom flats, on a 48/50-week full-year contract14 room types
UNSW Village has 1,021 beds in one- to eight-bedroom configurations. Rates are all-inclusive: utility bills, Wi-Fi and access to amenities are included, along with an outdoor BBQ area, dedicated study and social spaces, a communal kitchen, an on-site cafe, a resident app, student wellbeing support and 24/7 staffing; limited paid parking is available. Meals are self-catered and cleaning is not included; shared apartments have shared bathrooms. On top of the weekly rate there is a one-off $55.00 application fee, a cleaning fee that depends on room type (from $110.00) and a security deposit of four weeks' residential fee. Single-term contracts are currently unavailable because of high occupancy. UNSW's catered residential colleges are priced separately — UNSW Hall, for example, is $553 a week for a single room with shared bathrooms, all meals and fortnightly cleaning, on a 44-week contract. | unsw.edu.auread 18 Aug 2026 |
| ACUMelbourne | A$419 to A$509 | UniLodge Melbourne CBD — 2026 room rates ACU publishes for its Melbourne students, by room type and contract length. ACU states it neither owns nor directly manages any of the accommodation it lists; UniLodge provides it under agreement with ACU4 room types
Rental fees are inclusive of water, electricity and gas, with unlimited internet, free residential life programme membership and free access to a cinema room, study rooms and game rooms. ACU publishes two further Melbourne properties on the same page at its own negotiated student rates: UniLodge Melbourne Central, six-bedroom multi-share, $505 per week for a 40-week block or $485 for a 52-week full year (each bedroom has a private ensuite); and UniLodge Victoria University, six-bedroom multi-share, $327 per week for 40 weeks or $270 for 52 weeks — the cheapest option ACU lists, which it describes as great value in exchange for a longer commute. ACU's disclaimer applies to all of them: none is owned or directly managed by the university. | acu.edu.auread 18 Aug 2026 |
| MelbourneMelbourne (Parkville) | A$448 to A$939 | The university's own published per-person weekly rates for University Accommodation — its five university-operated residences near the Parkville campus (apartment-style: Lisa Bellear House, Little Hall, The Lofts; residential colleges: International House, Wilam Hall) — from the official University Accommodation 2027 cost table. Rates are per student and vary by room type and length of stay.5 room types
Fees include a furnished room, utilities (electricity, water and unlimited internet), amenities such as gym, cinema, communal kitchen and study rooms, and 24/7 staff support; catered meals are included at the residential colleges only. The top of the range sits with International House ($759–$939) and Wilam Hall ($870–$922, single-semester contract), which include an academic program and Residential Life program as well as meals. The Lofts at Melbourne Connect are dedicated graduate accommodation. The university separately republishes Victorian Government median weekly rents for whole private rental properties on its cost-of-living page ($475–$650 depending on size); those are whole-property figures that flat-shares divide between tenants, not per-person rates. | study.unimelb.edu.auread 23 Aug 2026 |
| UWAPerth (Crawley) | A$490 to A$737.49 | Per-person weekly rates from UWA's College Row residential colleges (fully catered, meals included) and University Hall; 2026 academic year pricing from the university's own 'Live at UWA' page.9 room types

It is open only to new international students commencing a Bachelor or Masters at Western Sydney University in 2026, at the Campbelltown, Hawkesbury and Penrith villages, and the discount applies once the promotional code is entered. Western Sydney does not publish a standard undiscounted village rate on its own site. What is includedThe rate is inclusive of utilities and the residential activity fee, and eligible students pay it directly to Western Sydney University Villages. Room types under the scheme are 5 bed townhouses and 5 bed apartments, and not all room types are available at every location. Places are limited. Separately, securing an apartment carries a $110 application fee and a security deposit, and there is a $150 Residential Life Program Fee. | westernsydney.edu.auread 19 Aug 2026 |

Living costs for a student visa
The living-cost figure for a student visa to Australia is A$29,710 12 months of living costs, on top of tuition. The authority attaches conditions that can change this amount, which student finance sets out in full.
Figure for 10 May 2024; read 19 Aug 2026 from immi.homeaffairs.gov.au. See student finance for how it has to be held.
How to read these prices
- Each is what the university publishes on its own site, usually for its own halls; the “What it covers” column says exactly what.
- Prices are only compared with others quoted for the same period and currency, so nothing here has been converted or scaled.
- A promotional or time-limited rate is marked and never listed as the cheapest option.
- Open a university to see its tuition, courses and the exact sentence each price came from.
